Flood Buckets
Many United Methodist Churches in southwest Oklahoma are answering an unusual call. Due to a year of unprecedented flooding across the USA and the Caribbean, there is an urgent need for Flood Buckets. The churches are distributing directions for how to assemble a flood bucket and are inviting their neighbors to join them in the effort. The churches will provide for the shipping to get them to the international distribution center in Louisiana.
Flood buckets are five-gallon plastic buckets filled with specific items to help residents clean and disinfect their homes.
For many years the ministry of assembling, storing, and then distributing flood buckets has been one part of the United Methodist disaster response ministries through their disaster response arm known as UMCOR. But due to the flooding over the past months, their entire stock of flood buckets is now depleted.
The First United Methodist Church in Marlow will soon start collecting materials for the flood buckets. Each bucket will contain about Fifty-five dollars worth of cleaning supplies and useful recovery items for families to begin the length process of recovery and restoration.
If you would like to contribute monetarily or with relief items, please contact the First United Methodist Church at 658-2765.

Important Kit Assembly information:
- All items included in kits must be NEW items.
- All emergency kits are carefully planned to make them useable in the greatest number of situations. Since strict rules often govern product entry into international countries, it is important that kits contain only the requested items…nothing more.
- Do NOT include any personal notes, money or additional materials in the kits. These things must be painstakingly removed and will delay the shipment.
